The Minister of Peace of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Muffriat Kamil, said the police institution is being built in an independent manner to serve the people and the country.
She made the remarks during a speech at Meskel Square in Addis Ababa on the occasion of the change of uniforms and logos used by the Addis Ababa Police.

Over the past three years, many efforts have been made to transform the police force, and tangible results have been recorded step by step. The reform is cantered on a change of mindset and a focus on institutional capacity building. The Minister of Peace also said that a lot of work has been done to re-establish the police as a public servant and to build it as a public servant.
She said efforts have been made to build a completely democratic and independent police force. He said the change in uniforms and logos of the Addis Ababa police today is a result of this. According to Muffriat Kamil, the police are out of the public eye, working for the people, surrendering and putting the public first.
She said the city administration’s commendable efforts to expand public access to the police are commendable.

She said the police are an institution that is feared by those who want to endanger public safety and is respected by the general public, adding that he is confident that the police service will be better prepared for the upcoming 6th general election.

The Addis Ababa police

Despite various challenges in Addis Ababa, the city police, in collaboration with the National Defense Forces, the Federal Police, and other judicial institutions, have made significant sacrifices and made public priorities.
Addis Ababa City Administration Deputy Mayor, Adanech Abebe, on her part, praised the efforts made by the Addis Ababa City Police Commission in collaboration with other security forces to prevent crimes that endanger the community, including arms smuggling and money laundering. She said more needs to be done to ensure a secure and lasting peace.
Addis Ababa Police Commissioner Getu Argaw said the change in the logo and uniform of the police is part of the institutional change.
Commissioner Getu Argaw also called on the public to continue their cooperation with the police by exposing illegal activities from the eve of the 6th national election to the post-election period.
